Nov 2011: Ibrahimpatnam is fast emerging as the next hot destination for institutions and organizations. With National Security Guard (NSG) and Octopus already allotted land there, other agencies are queuing up for land due to its proximity to the international airport in Shamshabad.
Nearly 5,000 acres of land is being sought by various departments and institutions at Ibrahimpatnam Bhagat and Khalsa villages in Ibrahimpatnam mandal. Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday had announced that about 500 acres land would be allotted for plastic units in Ibrahimpatnam.
The demand for land at Ibrahimpatnam has gone up soon after the government allotted land to two security agencies_NSG and Octopus_ last year. The NSG was given about 600 acres, while Octopus was allotted 570 acres.
After that, other agencies started queuing up for land in Ibrahimpatnam, the officials added.
Official sources said nearly 2,300 acres of Bhoodan land, which was assigned to the landless poor by the Bhoodan Board decades ago,
was available at Ibrahimpatnam Bhagat, Khalsa and Eliminedu villages. As of now, nearly 1,500 acres was already allotted to agencies like NSG, Octopus, Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).
BDL, a public sector undertaking, sought 540 acres land at Ibrahimpatnam Bhagat area, while BEL has been allotted 250 acres in Khalsa. "Nearly 330 acres of land has been alienated from farmers for BDL and another 65 acres is being acquired from patta land owners. BEL is being given patta land at Khalsa village. These PSUs are being allotted land through the APIIC for their expansion projects," Ranga Reddy joint collector M Jagannadham told TOI.
The RR district revenue department also got requisition for land allotment from the CRPF, which sought 250 acres to set up Mahila Batallion at Ibrahimpatnam Bhagat village. Similarly, the National Police Academy sought 400 acres for a firing range and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) wants 200 acres for its centre.
Apart from the security forces, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has written to the Ranga Reddy district collector last year seeking 1,000 acres for its truck terminal.
The APIIC sought 2,200 acres for an industrial park and other purposes. Of 2,200 acres, 595 acres have to be acquired from patta owners, the officials said.
